📝 When to Report to the DVLA

You should report someone if you believe:

• They have a medical condition that affects their ability to drive safely.
• They refuse to stop driving despite medical advice.

• Their condition has worsened and they haven’t informed the DVLA.

   

📌 What Information to Provide

When reporting, try to include:

• The driver’s full name and address
• Their date of birth or driving licence number (if known)
• Details of the medical condition or concern

• Any supporting evidence (e.g. incidents, witness accounts)

   

📬 How to Report

There are two main ways:

1. Online

Use the DVLA’s official form:

2. By Post

Write to:

⚠️ Important Notes

• The DVLA will not confirm the outcome of your report due to data protection laws.
• Reports should be made in good faith and with genuine concern for public safety.
• If the concern is about dangerous driving (not medical), it should be reported to the police via 101 or online.

You must tell DVLA if you have a driving licence and:

• you develop a ‘notifiable’ medical condition or disability

• a condition or disability has got worse since you got your licence

Notifiable conditions are anything that could affect your ability to drive safely. They can include:

• diabetes or taking insulin

• syncope (fainting)

• heart conditions (including atrial fibrillation and pacemakers)

• sleep apnoea

• epilepsy

• strokes

• glaucoma
